Lab Activities
Objectives
At the conclusion of this course, the student should be able to:
- Critically evaluate reasoning and evidence.
- Develop an understanding of the reasoning process and skill in utilizing various methods of reasoning.
- Analyze, advocate, and criticize ideas, especially through the process of debate.
- Recognize fallacies of reasoning and argue ethically.
- Develop research skills.
- Foster the use of critical thinking skills in oral and written communication.
- Identify which kinds of arguments prove particularly open to cultural sensitivity.
Evaluation Methods
May include: Oral presentation in front of live audience; examinations; evaluation of the oral arguments of others; written analysis of reasoning and arguments; use of appropriate evidence from research; debates.
