This course introduces theory, terminology and operation of a multi-camera television studio and control room. Topics include studio signal flow, directing, theory and operation of camera and audio equipment, switcher operation, fundamentals of lighting, graphics, video control and video recording and real-time video production.

Must include but not limited to the following:
- An overview of the process of pre-production, production and post-production, Introduction to TV Studio operations including camera and audio operation, fundamentals of lighting, and sets
- Introduction to control room operations including lighting boards, audio mixers, theory and operation of a switcher, video and audio recording and playback and character generation
- Crew positions including introduction to directing
- An introduction to uses of video and editing in a studio environment
- Promotes content creation in relation to social justice, race/ethnicity, gender, class, sexual orientation, and ability
Lab Activities
- Participate in group work
- Implement and create full studio and control room crew productions
Objectives
- Conceive and execute standard pre-production skills
- Utilize basic television studio video production equipment correctly, safely and creatively, including cameras, lights and audio, and control room equipment such as audio mixers, switchers, video recording, character generation and teleprompter
- Analyze interpret, and exercise critical judgment in the evaluation of media productions
- Demonstrate effective teamwork and problem solving as member of a production crew.
