General Description
This course applies and develops the rhythmic, melodic, and harmonic materials of Music Theory II through ear training, sight singing, analysis, and dictation.

Content
This course resides in a sequence, and elements of this course may appear in another course within the sequence.
Minimum topics:
- Melodic and Harmonic:
- continued incorporation of fundamental patterns from Musicianship I
- major and minor keys including leaps within all diatonic triads and the V7
- expanded phrase structure within simple melodic forms
- common diatonic chord progressions with inversions
- Rhythmic:
- common rhythmic patterns using the subdivision of the beat
- common dotted patterns up to the subdivision of the beat
- triplets at the division level
Possible teaching activities
- Perform and sight-read rhythmic exercises in two and three parts
- Perform single line rhythm and sight-singing exercises while conducting
- Detect errors in rhythm, pitch, and/or solfege
- Perform exercises in one or more parts (canons, duets, chorales, sing and play the piano, sing and clap rhythms, etc.)
