General Description
This course applies and develops the rhythmic, melodic, and harmonic materials of Music Theory III through ear training, sight singing, analysis, and dictation.

Content
This course resides in a sequence, and elements of this course may appear in another course within the sequence.
Minimum topics:
- Melodic and Harmonic:
- melodic chromaticism
- secondary/applied chords
- modulation to closely related keys
- all inversions possible
- Rhythmic:
- triplets at the subdivision and beat level
- duplets and quartolets at the beat level in compound meter
- more advanced syncopation, including at the subdivision level
Additional activities
- Perform and sight-read rhythmic exercises in two and three parts
- Perform single line rhythm and sight-singing exercises while conducting
- Detect errors in rhythm, pitch, and/or solfege
- Perform exercises in one or more parts (canons, duets, chorales, sing and play the piano, sing and clap rhythms, etc.)
